Nickel smelter
Nickel smelter is the oldest metallurgical enterprise of "Norilsk Nickel". The first matte at a plant was produced on February 23, 1942, and in April of the same year the first cathode nickel was produced. In the period from 1959 to1961 the replacement of mine furnaces by ore-smelting was carried out. In 1970 - 1972 the expansion of smelting shop was completed. The first cobalt was produced in March, 1946, using the technology developed by the researchers of the combine.Producing departments of the smelter are:
Finished production of Nickel smelter are: nickel electrolytic, metallic cobalt , cobalt electrolytic, salts of cobalt. Subproducts of the factory are copper concentrate and slime, containing precious metals. |
