David Gaddes


David Gaddes David has spent over 30 years in the non-ferrous metals industry. Founding elements of his expertise were gained between 1969 and 1979 when he worked for Entores Ltd., a London based international non ferrous metals merchant and London Metal Exchange [ LME ] ring dealing member, owned during that period by the French producing and refining group Le Nickel / Pennaroya / Mokta.

At Entores David served in most departments including treasury, shipping, foreign exchange, risk, LME floor, LME client liaison and physical metal trading. At the end of this apprenticeship he held two positions, they being Senior Trader and Group Executive responsible for business in Eastern Europe.

From 1979 to 1994 David held a number of senior positions in the non ferrous industry, principally dealing with East European entities offering services in trading, LME hedging, financial products and the physical sourcing / marketing of non ferrous metals and associated products.

In 1994 David joined Refco Overseas Ltd , the London subsidiary of Refco Group, the U.S. financial services organisation dealing with clients worldwide. At Refco he spent 5 years as the Manager of the Physical Brokerage department. This department dealt principally with developing East European companies and provided base metals services, including but not limited to logistics consultancy, structured trade finance, LME client liaison, LME risk management and physical metals sourcing and marketing.

David joined Norimet in October 2001. He is based in London and is Managing Director of Base Metals and acting CEO. He also serves as a member of the LME Nickel Committee.
